Hydrogen system for the University of Oslo

SPOT AS has delivered a custom-designed hydrogen and deuterium system to the University of Oslo – developed for research purposes with strict requirements for precision and safety.

SPOT AS has designed and built an advanced system for handling hydrogen and deuterium at the University of Oslo. The facility was developed for research applications and is rated for pressures up to 200 bar, with regulation capability down to 0.5 bar – providing high flexibility for experimental setups.

The project included planning, design, procurement, fabrication, and testing, and was completed in February 2021. The piping system was delivered using orbital welding in dimensions of 6–12 mm, executed in 316L tubing – a material well suited for demanding gas applications with strict requirements for purity and safety.

The system handles both hydrogen and deuterium gases and was designed with a strong focus on functionality and safe operation within a research environment.

SPOT AS continues to support the system with service and maintenance, and we are proud to contribute to groundbreaking research at one of Norway’s leading universities.
